Dry Brushing for Loose Skin on Keto Diet
I have lost just shy of 45 lb since the end of April on the ketosis diet. Obviously, with such rapid weight loss, your skin needs time to catch up. Since I am in my early forties, I did not expect that my skin was going to bounce back like it did when I was in my twenties. In an effort to minimize the issues that I may have as I continue to lose weight, I have been trying to be proactive about my skincare.
One of the first things that I noticed was a little extra skin around my cheeks and jawline, and a slight softness around my neck and chin which was not there before. Naturally, that spurred me into action. What I have been doing is dry brushing my skin every morning and evening, then rubbing coconut oil into my skin afterwards.
To begin dry brushing, you will want to get yourself a brush with natural, soft bristles. The point is to bring blood flow to the area, but not to damage the skin. You want it to feel not quite like you are scratching it as if you were scratching an itch. This is good for removing dead skin cells, decreasing puffiness, and increasing circulation. Some people swear that it also helps cellulite. Once you have dry brushed your skin, you will want to moisturize it with a nice high quality moisturizer like coconut oil or olive oil. I tend to avoid commercial lotions because this is going directly into your pores, and you want to nourish your skin like you nourish your body internally. There is no need to spend a lot of money on fancy lotions.
I will post articles on my website about dry brushing, in case you are not familiar with the process. I've only been doing this for about a week and a half, but I have noticed some improvement in my skin tone. I would love to hear your thoughts and recommendations if you are doing something different.
UPDATE: For those who wanted an example of dry brushing, I have posted a video to my blog: https://massage.countdowntofreedom.net/2018/04/dry-brushing-and-lymphatic-massage.html
